Fastnachts

Hello,

This Sunday we will again have fastnachts even though it is on the wrong day. They are to be served on Shrove Tuesday which is the last day before Lent starts. This year that date is March 8. But we did not know when that expected grandbaby would put in an appearance and we wanted to keep our options open for a quick get away.

We both feel quite relaxed because we have done this before, but a few days ago I realized that we needed to consider our options here. For instance even though this kitchen is quite large there are only three outlets and one of those is only good for the coffee pot. We have fried these donuts in a pan on the stove, but the last couple years we used an electric skillet and liked that the best. But here I dislike tying up any more outlets than necessary.

There will be an open house so that people can tour their parsonage. Several have told us that they have never been in it. I have cleaned the upstairs, but not the two lower floors. That will be on the list for tomorrow or maybe even Friday.

We are happy to have the snow melt and no more forecast for the near future. That is good as it will mean less dealing with boots or tracking.

I am also pleased because two of the amaryllis will be in full bloom by then. Both Christmas cactus will have some blossoms and the poinsettia looks great. Then there are those two little primroses. This will just be flower city. Who needs to decorate when flowers lead the way? Even though it is not flowering the fern is putting up seven new fronds. We are just a growing place.
