Day six of that bus trip
Hello,
This day we were stopping at Hopewell Rocks on the Bay of Fundy. I had never heard of this before we got there. This bay has the highest tides in the world. It was astonishing when we got out and walked on the lower level. We were walking on the ocean floor. We could see the water marks on the rocks above us. How could it get so high. The amount of water added is almost beyond comprehension. At the park where we were, it rises more than 30 feet. We land locked people hardly think about tides. Certainly nothing of this level.
We heard and saw some birds that are not familiar to me. One was the red eyed Viro. Sandpipers migrate through here. Apparently, they find lots of food when the tide goes out.
There were also places with lots of wildflowers. Beautiful.
We traveled over the eight-mile-long Confederation bridge. There is a feeling of being disconnected from land. It is the longest bridge over fresh water. This took us to Prince Edward Island which is the smallest Canadian province. I enjoyed watching the musical, Anne of Green Gables. We spent the night in Charlottetown.
