Ely, IA
Hello,
Leroy was home with no inclination to work. What a difference a job makes. What to do?
We did a little cleaning before we headed to the library to read the newspaper. We are not getting the paper, but that is not much of a problem because the library is so close and open all days except Sunday. The Ely Farmer’s market meets at the library and it was nice to visit that too.
Then it was back to clean up the flower bed outside our window. Our hostess said, “Oh you don’t have to do that. But maybe you would like to get into the dirt.”
She knows me because I was thinking of it as a joy and not a job. I proved to be quite satisfying although a bit tiring. We have not done that type of activity for some time.
After that we took a nice long walk on the bike trail. We guessed it to be a one way trip of one and a half miles. On the way up Leroy counted the other users, both bicycles and walkers. There were over 40. We were quite impressed. A friend met us and she said, “On a nice day in the summer you have to pay attention out here because there are so many people.”
I certainly believe it. The day was not done as we met some people from the Chariton/Corydon congregations. They had been in town for a meeting. It is so good to be able to visit and catch up with friends.
I don’t know about Leroy, but I think it was a great way to spend a day off.
Paula
